Building segments for email campaigns

What a segment is

A segment (Marketing → Segments) is a saved, dynamic filter over your contacts, not a fixed list — it re-evaluates its rules every time it's used, so a segment like “opted in and quiet for 60+ days” automatically picks up or drops people as their activity changes.

Rules

Add one or more rules, and choose whether a contact must match all of them or any one of them:

  • Marketing status — Opted in, Opted out, Unknown, or Suppressed.

  • Source — how the contact reached your directory (booking or CSV import).

  • Last seen (days ago) — at least / at most N days since their last booking.

  • Age (years) — at least / at most, based on date of birth.

  • Birthday within (days) — has a birthday coming up within N days.

Checking audience size

The builder shows a live “Matches N contacts right now” count as you add or edit rules, so you know how big a send will be before you save.

Using a segment

Sending a campaign snapshots a segment's membership at that exact moment — later changes to the segment's rules, or to who matches them, never retroactively change who already received that campaign.
